Tender Mercies

I woke up grumpy today. Really grumpy. I don't have that mommy filter that others seem to posses, the one where they wear a smile every day while talking to their kids, rain or shine, sickness, health, grumpy, ungrumpy...you get the idea. When I'm grumpy, everyone in the house knows it and can sense it.

Poor children.

While putting something in the garbage this morning Joshua replied:

"Ooh, this garbage is full, don't worry about it mom, I'll take care of it when I get home today"

3/4 of my grumpiness melted instantly.

One of Sam's friends rang the doorbell and pounded on the door frantically yelling "SAM, you're going to miss the bus, it's at the end of the street, you have to HURRY!"

Sam ran after him while Josh ran back to the bedroom to get his backpack. After running 1/2 way down the street Sam suddenly stops and runs back to the front yard.

"Love you MOM!" He called.

There went the last 1/4.

These boys! They play me like a fiddle! :)

Oh my gosh! Your boys are the cutest things ever! (I'm pretty sure thier parenting has just a LITTLE to do with it ;) ) And you wonder why I choose you--duh! hee hee ~Beck

That photo of the boys is STUNNING! Can't get cuter than that.

We are all grumpy sometimes. Clay even asks me now (in the sweetest way) if I'm hormonal. Its good these boys are getting exposed to "real life" because someday they're gonna have to go out there and live it.

You are adorable.

I don't believe you. I don't think you can EVER get grumpy!

But in the case of "slight" grumpiness, your boys are the sure remedy. Can you send them over when I'm just having one of *those* days?

Your boys are really something else...so special indeed.

I remember you saying, back when you were first married, that Mark has the same effect on you. What a joy that you are surrounded by all those guys.

I don't know very many girls that do that ;)

I don't have that cheerful filter either--my poor children and husband are the victims of my grumpy moods, too.

Your boys are such treasures!!!!

Hey friend! Kudos on that picture of Josh and Sam. You have a definite talent! I hope today is a better day. You can always call me and lament when you're feeling down. You know I'd love to talk!

Its always nice to hear that other people have grumpy days too. I always feel guilty, but the kids are always the best those days.

Luckily I didn't ever have grumpy days. (Glad my kids already commented so there aren't going to be any rebuttals.)

while i was reading liz's post about the swear words i had to laugh and i did think of my sweet sister. cade, she wont do it, i've tried and tried to get her to swear and she wont do it. i even told her about one of my high school friends who only swears if she's repeating you. so sometimes at our monthly luncheons i'll say one of those words and she'll say, "did you just say hell?" she still wouldn't. i don't think i've ever heard her swear, ever. how is it that two people from the very same mold can be so different. i wish i had mels creative talent and computer brilliance and painting and decorating a room awesomeness. and her incredible mothering skills, she runs a tight ship over there. oh and her total dedication to the gospel teachings; i.e. regular family home evening, temple attendance, and sabbath day perfection. man, i'm a loser. now i've totally depressed myself. but seriously, how the hell do you raise 4 kids without swearing?

I don't have the mommy filter either, so don't get down on yourself...I think most of us don't.
Anyway, you have VERY sweet boys! What a lucky mommy you are!!!

I solved the grumpy problem, I didn't get up. Then they didn't have to put up with me.
