A boy and his....er...I mean his AUNT'S dog:

Last night for FHE we had a lesson on voting and politics. Daddy explained the voting process and what he liked and disliked about the candidates. Then we went around and talked about who we were going to vote for and why. When it was Gabe's turn and we said "who are you going to vote for Gabe?" he jumped up and shouted NIKKI!!!!! (or Nitt-ee in gabespeak) Then Sam said, GABE, you can't vote for a DOG for the PRESIDENT, so he thought about it for a few seconds and shouted OKAY THEN! AUNT SHAWWAAHH!!(Sharla) So funny! It is so nice of Aunt Sharla to have a dog for us that we can play with when we want to and then let her go back to her own house when we're done. :) She is SUCH a good dog, so good natured and sweet! Gabe just LOVES Nikki and includes her in almost ALL of his bedtime (and lately mealtime) prayers!

We love you Nikki!!

I just learned about a therapy called AAT (Animal-Assisted Therapy), where animals (like dogs) assist people with mental-health illnesses--including kids with behavior problems. Good idea, eh? I'm going to do a presentation on it in my class. I can't wait to get a devoted little dog as soon as I get a yard, because I'm generalizing that it works for old people too...

Melanie! So good to see you and to hear from you!!! your family is absolutely gorgeous. And about the being your kids pediatrician....I haven't met a kid yet that has driven me from the desire and believe me, I have met some seriously troublesome tots! Oh, I am so happy to hear from you! I will certainly keep in touch.

We've been talking elections at our house, too. I took the kids with me to vote yesterday. They wanted to vote so badly! I wonder what would happen if we had a core of "favorite aunts" leading our country? :)

That sweet face loving up that doggie is just like my Alyssa and our neighbor's cat . . . some sweetness just goes beyond words.

Great idea for FHE.
I was going to do something like that for preschool, and didn't. You know what they say about the road to hell...paved with good intentions. Good thing you followed through.

my 5yo LOVES dogs. he just totally connects with them. i've never seen a kid who loves dogs so much. which makes me feel like a really mean mom for not letting him have one!

I loved the picture but I'm afraid I'm not the animal lover of America. I love how informative you are with the boys. Such great parents.
