Dear Joshua,
Remember awhile ago, when daddy gave you, Sam and Gabe a banana and there were only 3 left and one had bruises all over it? Remember daddy asking if anyone was willing to take the banana with the bruises on it and you spoke up and said "I will, Dad"
That was such a beautiful example of Sacrifice.
Remember before school got out for the summer, we were working on a project and you said something about it not being "symmetrical" and I (thinking you really didn't know what that word meant) asked you why it wasn't symmetrical and you said "Because in order for it to be symmetrical it needs to be congruent on both sides".
That was so brilliant
Remember about 6 months ago, when our Sacrament program had a picture of our new First Presidency on the cover, how when we woke up on Monday the picture had been cut out and placed on the fridge? When I asked who put it there you said "I did, I thought we should have that picture on our fridge so we could always remember them".
That was so touching.
Remember just last week when I was getting after you for tattling on your brother for the fifth time that morning and after I was done you waited for a good minute or two and then said in a total non-chalant and sing-song-ish voice "SOooo, how was your Young Women's meeting last night?" just to change the subject?
That was really funny.
And remember, the other day when we were all just hanging out around the house, I was in the kitchen and you and Sam were in the front room and you said "Sam, where's Will? Will you go see if he's in mom's room?" ...he was actually taking a nap and I hadn't even asked you to help watch him that day.
That was so sweet.
These are things I will remember forever. Along with the countless showings of affection you give to me, dad and your little brothers. We are so lucky to be a part of your amazing little 9 year old life. Please don't ever change.

What a cool kid! When I have 9 year olds, I hope they are as sweet, brilliant and kind as Joshua. :)
Very nice post!
Joshua sounds like a terrific kid! What a blessing he is to your family!
I loved this post. I need to do a better job of remembering the little things my kids do that I just love about them.
What an angel. And how sweet of you to notice his angelic qualities and to post them.
This is brilliant. You make me love Josh as much as you do!
So cute! What a blessing to have such a sweet boy.
Did he just have a birthday or was this a just because moment? I LOVE just because moments! What a sweet little man. I hope Mason never turns 9. :)
What a brilliant way to let your sweet son know his goodness does not go unnoticed. I hope you typed that up for him as well to put in his book.
That was delightful. I look forward to Sam and Gabe and Will's editions.
What a sweet post!! He sounds like an amazing boy.
Mel, that was the most beautiful thing Ive heard all week! I love it, you are such a good mom, I will need to copy that soon (sorry) my children pass off some of their reading minutes at night by reading our blog- I would love for them to open it up one day and see something that cool about them. That was so tender, and I would have to agree, Josh was such a kind boy in my preschool.
Hi Mel! I wish that you lived closer so that Sky & Joshua could be buddies again. He is such a good kid. Hope you're doing well.
That is such a sweet post. You're a great mom, Mel. Those are definately things you will want to remember. It is so great that you are writing them down. Joshua has always been such a great kid!!
